Driving Cloud Efficiency and Performance Through GCP Migration
A Prominent Financial Analytics Firm

Business Opportunity
Reduce cost with GCP migration
The client is a prominent New York-based financial analytics firm, originally part of a major investment bank, specializing in global market indices, portfolio analytics, and sustainability-focused financial tools. It is known for managing widely recognized benchmarks that cover developed, emerging, and global markets.
With rising costs and a need for better scalability, the client was looking to migrate their application from Azure to GCP.
We helped the client migrate their application from Azure to GCP by automating infrastructure deployment and migrating key workloads to optimize performance and scalability. Our solution included CI/CD pipeline setup and a Disaster Recovery setup, delivering a smooth migration and a resilient, future-ready cloud environment.

The Challenge
The client faced multiple challenges with their Azure environment, including
- Rising cost: Rising and unpredictable Azure costs prompted the need for a more cost-effective cloud platform with better pricing models/discounts.
- Better integration with existing workloads: The client needed tighter integration with existing Google Cloud services or tools already in use within the organization.
- Performance and scalability requirements: Limitations in Azure infrastructure or services affected application performance or scalability, driving a move to GCP’s optimized services like GKE or Cloud Run.
Our Solution
We helped the client migrate their application from Azure to GCP through a comprehensive, end-to-end solution focused on performance, scalability, and operational efficiency. We began by integrating with their existing GCP Landing Zone, extending service projects to maintain consistent governance and security. Infrastructure was provisioned using Terraform, enabling rapid deployment of key components such as Load Balancer, Cloud CDN, VMs for Talend and SQL Server, Cloud Run for PaaS services, GKE for container workloads, and scalable storage via GCP NFS and NetApp File Shares.
To consolidate workloads and optimize performance, we migrated SQL Server and Redis from Azure VMs to GCE, Azure Blob Storage to GCP persistent disks, and Azure SMB shares to GCP using NetApp. We enabled faster development and deployment by setting up a CI/CD pipeline with GCP Artifact Registry and integrating their Azure DevOps workflows, which were modified to deploy on GCP components. Additionally, we implemented a Disaster Recovery setup to ensure business continuity. This solution not only ensured a smooth migration but also provided the client with a robust, future-ready cloud environment.
Reduced infrastructure costs
Results
- Improved system performance: GKE enabled faster, more responsive systems through efficient container orchestration.
- Reduced Infrastructure Costs: Optimized use of GCP services lowered the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Accelerated Future Project Delivery: Developed reusable CI/CD pipeline automation utility using Terraform models.
- Standardized Infrastructure Provisioning: Created a Terraform script generation framework to streamline future deployments.
