The client is a prominent Indian multinational company that operates in the automotive, aerospace, agribusiness, and several other sectors. Founded in 1945, it has grown to become one of the largest manufacturers of automobiles in India, particularly known for its SUVs, tractors, and commercial vehicles. After multiple successful launches with Niveus, the client was again looking to leverage the successful online booking platform developed by Niveus to launch their new and highly anticipated model.
Niveus went beyond simply implementing the online booking platform for the launch. We revamped our online booking platform by upgrading all resources to the latest versions. We upgraded machine types to a more cost-efficient model, resulting in significant cost savings for the client. The enhanced admin dashboard now supports near real-time application configuration management. As a result, we processed 1,76,000 vehicle bookings within the first 60 minutes, efficiently handling heavy traffic without any technical issues.
The Challenge
The client anticipated a surge in traffic due to the immense popularity of the present model and lucrative launch offers. There was concern that excessive load could crash the website, affecting sales. Therefore, the booking platform needs to be designed to handle this traffic seamlessly while maintaining overall performance. Our primary goal was to improve the experience for the client and their customers by streamlining the platform and enhancing performance with revamped features.
Our Solution
For the launch, we built a robust launch portal that allows users to pre-book the vehicle while availing lucrative discounts and offers. We updated and redeployed the existing microsite to effectively manage peak loads during the pre-launch and booking phases. The admin panel was further enhanced for launch management and data visualization compared to previous launches and now supports near real-time application configuration management. The solution was integrated with PayU for seamless payment processing, Salesforce Marketing Cloud for targeted marketing campaigns, and Google Analytics for performance tracking. Data was made accessible via PubSub, allowing for efficient data retrieval and facilitating downloads in Excel format.
Niveus Solutions developed a highly scalable system with code optimized from the ground up to integrate seamlessly with the designed infrastructure. The application and infrastructure were optimized to manage very large traffic volumes. The platform was built using a microservices architecture, incorporating a combination of serverful and serverless technologies for maximum flexibility and efficiency. With comprehensive logging mechanisms in place, observability was ensured, providing detailed insights into the performance of each feature. Robust security measures were implemented to eliminate potential threats; connectivity between microservices, databases, and cache was ensured for seamless performance.
The application was designed to allow the enabling or disabling of specific features, as well as modifications in functionality, without impacting the customer experience in real time. The infrastructure was built to scale horizontally, including the database, which could scale without performance degradation. Load testing was conducted over an extended period to verify the system’s ability, which was able to manage 30,000 transactions per second (TPS) with an average response time under 400ms without any issues. This long-duration testing ensured the system could handle sustained high traffic without breakdowns, guaranteeing reliability under heavy loads.
The front-end application is built on ReactJS, providing a single code base for easier development and native-like performance across mobile and desktop. The back-end, developed with NodeJS, ensures scalability and flexibility through a microservice-based architecture. Hosted on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), the infrastructure supports auto-scaling, upgrades, and repairs. Cloud Spanner serves as the transactional database for high performance and scalability. Additionally, Cloud Memorystore (Redis) is used for extreme performance, and REST APIs are designed with Microservices Design Patterns for independently deployable services.
