The 24-Hour Hackathon, held on August 26th and 27th, 2023, at Niveus office, Mangalore, was a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and the boundless potential of human creativity. This event brought together a diverse group of talented individuals, all eager to push the boundaries of technology and create solutions to real-world challenges.
Initially, we received an impressive 96 team registrations from colleges across Karnataka for the hackathon. Selecting the top teams for the event posed a considerable challenge. After careful consideration, we ultimately selected 19 teams to participate in the intense 24-hour hackathon. 19 teams, with nearly 80 participants, took on challenges in healthcare, banking, and logistics.
On the hackathon day, the registration process kicked off promptly at 8 AM, ensuring a smooth start to the event. This gesture aimed to enhance their comfort and convenience throughout the challenging yet exciting 24-hour journey.
The 24-Hour Hackathon began with a formal kick-off at 10 AM. The opening ceremony featured Techbits by Rajat Pandit, Google Cloud Customer Engineering & Emerging Tech GTM Lead, followed by a keynote from Sunil Iyengar, Data and AI Sales Leader – Media & Gaming at Google Cloud. Sunil provided valuable insights into the upcoming technological trends in AI.
Teams presented their progress at the start, during the night, and again at the finish. Judges looked for technical skills, teamwork, time management, adaptability, and how far each team progressed.
The total prize pool for the event amounted to INR 2,15,000, distributed across various categories. The first-place winner received INR 1,00,000, the second-place winner received INR 50,000, and the third-place winner received INR 25,000. Additionally, there were four special awards, each carrying a prize of INR 10,000. Participation certificates were distributed to all the participants.
The judges had a tough job, but they finally picked the winners:

– Runner-Up: Team Void – St Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore
– Second Runner-Up: Team Bit-Wizards – Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore
Additionally, NivHack had other special awards:

2. Best Team Effort: Cloud Cargo – Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore
3. Best Innovative Approach: T3 – Tribe – NMAM Institute of Technology, Karkala
4. Best Use of Cloud Technology: Bit-Wizard – Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore
Going forward, Niveus is excited to offer special internships to the most outstanding performers. This is a way to keep the bright minds shining even after the hackathon.
Participants were graciously offered a full course of meals, including a nourishing breakfast, a hearty lunch, and a satisfying dinner. Moreover, a well-supplied cafeteria boasted an array of snacks and beverages available throughout the event, ensuring everyone had the sustenance they needed to excel in their projects.
The 24-Hour Hackathon was a true testament to what people can do when they put their heads together. It showed that technology and teamwork can change the world.
