The TVS Group, a premier Indian business conglomerate and a leading supplier of automotive parts, has its headquarters in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Business Context
Vehicle owners often face significant challenges with poor servicing, a major pain point that begins with a breakdown, towing to a garage, and lengthy waits for parts. TVS Automobile Solutions (TVS), a leading aftermarket service provider, recognizes this issue and is committed to delivering hassle-free servicing, guaranteeing prompt and accurate repairs for vehicle owners. In a strategic global expansion, TVS was looking to transform their traditional aftermarket business to seamlessly serve a larger customer base by leveraging a data-driven platform on Google Cloud.
Challenge:
The challenge was to build a telematics platform that can locate vehicles and its events in real-time, to cater users with live information related to various aspects of the vehicle operation. This includes a live dashboard enabling TVS to monitor vehicles, diagnostic trouble codes, alerts, and provide on-road assistance. The objective was to cater users with live information related to various aspects of the vehicle operation with telematics fleet management.
Opportunity:
Considering the business requirement, Niveus recommended TVS to develop a platform on Google Cloud for its ability to process real-time data and its analysis. Through the continuous analysis of real-time data, GCP can contribute to optimizing vehicle operations, bolstering safety measures, and fostering a proactive approach to maintaining high standards in both vehicle performance and driver well-being.
Business Solution
The platform was designed to operate for 5000 vehicles in the first phase. We provided an API to mobile as well as a dashboard app for real time information of the vehicles such as trip details and vehicle health, for the customer. The telematics platform was deployed to consume data in real time from the IOT core and enables building a pipeline to process the incoming data and load appropriate data endpoints.
Other key implementations of the platform include providing notifications and alerts, a high performing data layer for large analytical and operational workloads in real time, an enterprise data warehouse with aggregated data for each vehicle and a scalable API layer with monitoring and easy integration. Monitoring provides a range of safety precautions such as monitoring speed, notification of accident-prone areas and harsh braking locations, continuous driving etc.
